Ash Wednesday

The Season Lent Begins on Wednesday, February 17, 2010.  

During the Ash Wednesday service the pastor takes ashes on the end of his thumb and makes the sign of the cross on the forehead worshipers, saying these words: "Remember: you are dust, and to dust you shall return."  This ancient act is a gesture of repentance and a powerful reminder of our need for the cleansing of our sin.  The sign of the cross on the forehead of the worshipper is also a sign of hope and release from sin freely given by our Lord through his work on the cross.

On Pentecost Sunday, the young adults of our congregation gave witness to their faith and their Savior and were confirmed.  Check out what they have written about their connection with Jesus . . .

Come to dinner at 6pm this Sunday, October 28, and then hear the Bakers report on their mission work in Kazakhstan at 7pm.  The Lutheran Women Missionary League of Our Savior requests your presence!

WELCOME!  A New Look – Inside and Out    Our church glistens with new stained glass created by David Wixon and Associates of Glen Ellyn, IL.  We dedicate the glass to God’s glory.  

FIRST PLACE: The next 13-week session for First Place will have the Bible Study "Choosing Thankfulness". Any one interested in attending this Bible Study must attend the orientation on September 10th at 7PM. The first classes will start on September 15th & the 17th.

You are invited to a marriage enrichment workshop this Saturday, August 25 beginning at 10:00am at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Burlington.  Marriage in God’s Way is led by Pastor Todd Biermann and his wife Heather. The Biermanns will equip couples with communication tools and share God's design for marriage. The workshop environment is fun, non-threatening, and relaxing. Couples will spend some time alone, talking about and putting into practice what they learn. WORKING MISSION PROJECT

On April 14, 2007 three members of Our Savior traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi to help with cleaning up after Hurricane Katrina. They went with a group from Pentecost Lutheran Church in Racine. Here are Bethany's thoughts on that trip . . .

Every year we celebrate our physical birthdays, and even more important is remembering our spiritual birthdays.

Darlene A. Nacker, age 52, of Burlington, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 at her home. She was born May 25, 1954 in Milwaukee, to William and Shirley (nee Torgersen) Nacker.

It is exciting to move into a renovated church.  Our building, constructed in 1965, has given us more than forty years of excellent use.  But, as it goes with even the best of structures, our sanctuary showed its age with bubbling carpet, peeling paint and pews, dim lighting, and other concerns.  So now we have a “church makeover” so to speak.
